Bloody Mother F***ing A**Hole :: Martha Wainwright

This is another song that I got into during my caravan across the eastern/midwestern portion of the nation a couple of weeks ago. I remember I first heard Martha Wainwright on pandora.com a couple of years ago and somehow didn't follow up on my original excitement about her...until I happened upon the record store down the street from my old job...on my last day. I was desperately trying to find something...anything...that I felt would be good road trip music, and/or a book on tape.

I was completely unsuccessful at finding any book on tape that was within my price range, so I settled on a couple of CDs from artists that I knew I liked, but had not yet had the pleasure of sitting down and really enjoying.

I like Martha Wainwright because she is real, and she is compelling, and I find her use of cuss words to be not only accurate to how others can make you feel at times, but also pretty freakin hilarious with a pinch of sassy. Many of you are probably pretty familiar with her brother Rufus Wainwright - who is also wonderful to listen to - but hopefully, you will also enjoy her musical stylings :)

The end.
Love,
Meggo.

Bloody Mother F***ing A**Hole :: Martha Wainwright

Poetry is no place for a heart that's a whore
And I'm young & I'm strong
But I feel old & tired
Overfired

And I've been poked & stoked
It's all smoke, there's no more fire
Only desire
For you, whoever you are
For you, whoever you are

You say my time here has been some sort of joke
That I've been messing around
Some sort of incubating period
For when I really come around
I'm cracking up
And you have no idea

No idea how it feels to be on your own
In your own home
with the fucking phone
And the mother of gloom
In your bedroom
Standing over your head
With her hand in your head
With her hand in your head

I will not pretend
I will not put on a smile
I will not say I'm all right for you
When all I wanted was to be good
To do everything in truth
To do everything in truth

Oh I wish I wish I wish I was born a man
So I could learn how to stand up for myself
Like those guys with guitars
I've been watching in bars
Who've been stamping their feet to a different beat
To a different beat
To a different beat

I will not pretend
I will not put on a smile
I will not say I'm all right for you
When all I wanted was to be good
To do everything in truth
To do everything in truth

You bloody mother fucking asshole
Oh you bloody mother fucking asshole
Oh you bloody mother fucking asshole
Oh you bloody mother fucking asshole
Oh you bloody mother fucking asshole
Oh you bloody...

I will not pretend
I will not put on a smile
I will not say I'm all right for you
For you, whoever you are
For you, whoever you are
For you, whoever you are

I Fought in a War :: Belle and Sebastian

So, lots of things are going on and are happening super fast. I hauled ass and got to MN from DC in 2 days - driving through torrential rains, extreme boredom, gut rot from gas station food/coffee, and annoying Chicago drivers...I did it. But I wouldn't have been able to do it if it weren't for the musical stylings of one...or should i say two?...Belle and Sebastian.

I was first introduced to B&S my sophomore year of college at Luther by Brenda - the much wiser, cooler senior friend I had made. Every time I went to her room (aka the Hot Box), B&S would 9 times out of 10 be playing in the background while she sat in the orange 'family' chair - legs crossed, chillin, reading a book or a magazine. Brenda was the epitome of coolness and I secretly (but probably really obviously) ate up all the things she introduced me to, especially B&S.

This particular song is off their album, Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant holds the best spot on the album as Track 1. I purchased this album for my cross country trek because I needed something that was going to remind me of that excited feeling I got from visiting Brenda in the Hot Box.

I hope you all enjoy it, as it is my favorite track off this album! My apologies for the short/late post, but as soon as things get more under control for me, I'll be back to my sassy, anal retentively timely postings...

Until then...Enjoy!
The end.
Love,
Meggo.
